A Different Side of the Sunshine State
Located in the heart of Central Florida, Seminole County has been dubbed as “Florida’s Natural Choice.” And it’s no wonder the area gained this nickname, given its melding of both modern amenities and natural charm. Seminole County shows visitors a much more serene and tranquil side of the Sunshine State than they typically find in destinations like Orlando or Daytona.
The county boasts more than 2,000 freshwater lakes and clear-running rivers, a number of wilderness trails and 23 parks. Any nature lover will be drawn to the long list of outdoor activities this locale offers – canoeing, kayaking, fishing, boating, hiking and more. Seminole County also offers first class accommodations, fine dining, upscale shopping and superb golf courses, all in a charming natural environment. And with its prime Central Florida location, visitors also have the option of taking in some major tourist attractions; Seminole County is 45 minutes from Disney, 15 minutes from Downtown Orlando and 45 minutes from Daytona Beach.
“Seminole’s not only got an ideal location to make it easy to get in and out of, but we have some unusual and creative offsite or breakout venues I don’t think anyone else can offer at a similar type of standard,” says Sharon Sears, Executive Director of the Seminole County Convention & Visitors Bureau.
One example of such a venue is the new ZOOm Air Adventures at the Zoo. “It’s really kind of a corporate breakout or off-site venue for team building where you can be swinging in the trees and do zip lines and climbing things,” Sears says. “It’s the only one of its kind in North America, and it just opened in May of this year. It leaves no footprint on the environment – everything’s completely natural and you can hang out among the trees and see things from a different perspective. Nobody else can offer that.”
Sears also mentions airboat rides as another off-site possibility for groups. “A lot of places have air boats rides in the Everglades that you have to drive to get to, but here in Seminole County you’re twenty minutes away. You can be in a very modern hotel, but you’re literally minutes from being in a totally different environment.”
